Hans-Jörn Brandenburg

Musician, composer

Hans-Jörn Brandenburg studied music in Hanover and Hamburg. In the port city, he was the musical director of the Schauspielhaus Hamburg from 2000 to 2003. Based in Berlin for almost 20 years, the musician has worked there on numerous musical productions with director Robert Wilson, among others, and has been fulfilling a teaching position at the UdK Berlin in the Musical Department since 2018. He wrote the music for various productions, e.g. »Waiting for Godot« by George Tabori at the Berliner Ensemble, arranged »Heroes of the Opera« at the Neukoellner Oper and the »Threepenny Opera« for Schauspiel Köln. In addition, Brandenburg composes music for films and his CDs. For example, the theme for »Die Unerhörten«, a production of the rbb directed by Jean Boué, received the Grimme Prize in 2020.
