Igor Stravinsky’s music to »Le Sacre du printemps« acts like a stimulus that a direct reaction must follow. Like no other composition, this critical work of (dance) modernism has given rise to hundreds of interpretations worldwide. The flamenco innovator Israel Galván reveals the multi-layered rhythms by becoming a percussive instrument himself. In addition to the demand for two pianos, which Stravinsky presented in a very close circle a few days before the premiere, flamenco is also used in works by Domenico Scarlatti and Frederic Rzewski.
