The retelling of the Old Testament Flood and the salvation of biodiversity through Noah’s Ark in Michelangelo Falvetti’s oratorio »Il diluvio universale« brims with imagination and gripping drama. Together with the scenic-musical lament »Les Adieux« by violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the musical representation of the parable »The Giving Tree« by the Rothko String Quartet, the works form a thematic unity with which the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele deliberately focuses on the acute problem of climate change and the issue of sustainability. »Anyone who was not present at this performance missed out on great things.
