Zhanna Gladko represents a young generation of Belarusian artists. Since her studies at the Belarusian State University of the Arts, she has been researching gender-specific themes against the background of current feminist theories. Her works deconstruct concepts such as gender politics and patriarchy, religion and culture, the art system and society. To this end, Gladko draws on the imminent political situation in her home country or autobiographical experiences such as her relationship with her father. Her 2012 work »Inciting Force« was selected by »Kalektar«, a platform for researching contemporary art in Belarus, as one of the 40 most influential works of the last 50 years.
