Rakhi Singh Violin & Shrutibox
When Rakhi Singh performs, one might think that there are more people on stage than just a soloist; thanks to electronic possibilities, she allows the violin to transcend its sound palettes and worlds, almost resembling a whole ensemble. The musician experiments on her instrument passionately, dedicating herself to the unconventional use of the violin. Her goal is to bring music to life in a joyful way. Over the past ten years, Rakhi Singh has established herself as one of the leading figures in the classical-contemporary instrumental scene in the UK, not least because of her vast repertoire and progressive style blends, shaped by her English-Indian roots and influences from various cultures. Singh adds a sensory component to Vera Mercer’s photographs in the old porcelain factory of Ludwigsburg Palace – which can sometimes evoke hypnotic and meditative states.
