Franz Schubert set the scene of the »lively« and »moody trout« from Christian Schubart’s poem to music in what is probably one of his best-known and most popular songs. So popular that a few years after this popular success, he used the themes of the »Trout« Lied as the basis for a sequel: the equally cheerful »Trout Quintet«. However, the five-movement work was only published after his death and was to remain Schubert’s only piano quintet. Before the Simply Quartet concludes its concert at the Ordenssaal with this engaging and characterful piece, it dedicates itself to excerpts from the first string quartet by jazz musician and composer Wynton Marsalis and the late discovered and published »Poem« by the late Romantic composer Rebecca Clarke.
