For cellist Antoine Lederlin, a string quartet is a particularly human idea and fantasy before it is a musical one. In the case of the Belcea Quartet, all three dimensions have undoubtedly become well-established, as the ensemble now looks back on over 30 years of making music together. In the Order Hall – the chamber music heart and birthplace of the Ludwigsburg Festival – the musicians present a program featuring three complex masterworks from the string quartet repertoire of the Viennese Classical and Modern eras. This selection invites both deep concentration and blissful immersion. Moreover, Mozart’s »Hoffmeister Quartet« as long as the late works of Benjamin Britten and Ludwig van Beethoven evoke a wide range of emotions: Mozart’s piece from his Viennese years – like his »Figaro« – can instantly elicit both laughter and tears. In his final completed instrumental work, Benjamin Britten dramatically and fatefully explores the darker sides of human existence. At the same time, Beethoven expresses the struggles of his daily life sonorously but still with elegant restraint in C-sharp minor.
The exhibition at the Residenzschloss opens one hour before the concert.
